Description

Outstanding mid- to high-grade complete set of 1964-1965 Topps hockey, one of the most popular and classic of all hockey-card sets. The issue is packed with Hall of Famers, rookies, and extremely tough-to-find short prints. Condition is 27% Nr/Mt to Nr/Mt-Mt (mostly Nr/Mt), 52% Ex to Ex-Mt, and 21% Vg to Vg-Ex. We have selected eight cards for grading and encapsulation by PSA. Keys: #1 Martin RC (Vg-Ex), 6 Sawchuk (EX-MT 6), 12 Hall (100/0 L/R, otherwise Ex+), 20 Hull (EX-MT 6), 24 Gilbert (Ex), 31 Mikita (Ex), 33 Beliveau (EX-MT 6), 40 Bower (Ex+), 48 H. Richard (Vg-Ex+), 54 1st Checklist (Vg-Ex+), 55 2nd Checklist (Vg+), 58 Williams SP (EX-MT 6), 59 Pilote SP (NM 7), 68 Plante (NM-MT 8 [OC]), 72 Dornhoefer SP (Ex-Mt due mostly to centering), 73 Maki SP (20/80 T/B, otherwise Nr/Mt+), 74 Villemure SP (20/80 T/B, otherwise Nr/Mt+), 80 Rousseau SP (EX-MT 6), 82 Lindsay (20/80 L/R, otherwise Nr/Mt), 85 Mahovlich (Nr/Mt), 89 Howe (Ex+), 91 Nesterenko SP (Vg-Ex), 92 Paille SP (Ex), 94 Keon (Ex+), 98 Hicke SP (Ex), 102 Horton (NM 7), 105 Horton AS (Ex+), 106 Mikita AS (Ex-Mt), 107 Hull AS (Ex), and 110 Hall AS (Vg). The oversized design of the 1964-1965 Topps hockey set makes this issue particularly susceptible to damage and the assembly of high-grade sets all the more difficult. This is an extremely attractive set, far above average for this issue, with excellent eye appeal across the board. Total: 110 cards.
