Lot # 3098: 1973 to 1977 O-Pee-Chee WHA Complete Set Collection (5 Sets, 416 Cards)

Presented are five complete World Hockey Association sets spanning the years 1973 to 1977. These are very attractive, mostly high-grade complete sets of these O-Pee-Chee hockey classics. The sets are highlighted by the many great stars and Hall of Famers from the WHA, including Gordie Howe, Mark Howe, Bobby Hull, Dave Keon, Gerry Cheevers, and Jacques Plante. This collection consists of the following: 1) 1973-1974 Posters (20): Condition ranges from Vg to Ex (averaging Vg-Ex). Keys: #13 G. Howe (Vg-Ex) and 16 Hull (Ex). 2) 1974-1975 (66): 48% Nr/Mt to Nr/Mt-Mt (including a couple Mint) and 47% Ex to Ex-Mt, and 5% slightly lesser. Keys: #1 The Howes (Ex+), 50 Hull (Nr/Mt-Mt), 53 Checklist (Nr/Mt), and 64 Plante (Nr/Mt-Mt). 3) 1975-1976 (132): 20% Nr/Mt to Nr/Mt-Mt (including a few Mint), 69% Ex to Ex-Mt, and 11% Vg to Vg-Ex (including one Gd). Keys: #1 Hull (Ex), 7 Mark Howe RC (Vg-Ex), 66 G. Howe AS (Ex) 100 G. Howe (Vg-Ex), and 131 Checklist (Ex). 4) 1976-1977 (132): 61% Nr/Mt to Nr/Mt-Mt (including a couple Mint) and 39% Ex to Ex-Mt (including a few Vg-Ex). Keys: #50 G. Howe (Ex-Mt+ due solely to centering), 72 G. Howe AS (Nr/Mt-Mt), and 100 Hull (Nr/Mt-Mt). 5) 1977-1978 (66): 30% Nr/Mt or better, 50% Ex to Ex-Mt (mostly due to centering), and 20% lesser (mostly due to centering). Keys: #1 G.
