Original-in-box example of "Mickey Mantle's Batter's Training Set" issued in 1962. Most of the original pieces appear to be intact (including two plastic balls with Mantle's facsimile signature printed on each), missing only the home plate. No player was more popular at this time than Mickey Mantle, the New York Yankees slugger who was coming off an impressive 1961 season in which he clubbed 54 home runs and led the Yankees to a World Series championship. There is also an endorsement by Mantle's teammate Elston Howard relegated to the lower-portion of the box. This is the first example we have offered in its original unopened box. The box remains completely intact but displays a few minor condition flaws, including light creasing and a few small tears. Dimensions: 7 x 31 x 2.75 inches. The size/weight of this item requires that there will be an additional shipping charge for this lot.
