Description

Graded VG/EX 4 by SGC. One of only two examples graded by SGC, this is the highest graded example! Extremely rare example of New York Giants Hall of Famer Rube Marquard (pitching) from the 1910-1912 T215 Red Cross Tobacco (Type 1) set. T215 Red Cross is one of tobacco-card collecting's most overlooked issues. Very similar in design to and borrowing images from the T206 set, T215 Red Cross cards are thought to have been issued exclusively in the Louisiana area. The cards measure 1-1/2 x 2-5/8 inches, which is the standard size for tobacco issues. The offered card has vibrant colors, outstanding registration, honest corner wear (weaker top left), and excellent centering. The reverse exhibits bold, crisp print, an ideal quality for an example of this scarce issue. An outstanding Hall of Fame sample from this scarce and desirable issue.
