Presented is a very attractive near-complete 199-card set of 1961 Post Cereal plus 68 variations and two duplicates. This collection is composed of both company cards (35%, perforated cards available on sheets directly from Post via mail-in offer) and box cards (65%, available on cereal boxes and intended to be hand-cut). Included are two duplicates (#121 and 159), plus both variations of the following 68 cards: #1 Berra, 2, 3, 4 Mantle, 6 Ford, 7 Maris, 8, 9, 12, 19, 20 Fox, 21, 25, 26, 27, 3, 35 Kaline, 40, 41, 50, 55, 57, 64, 65, 69, 71, 75 B. Robinson, 80 Wilhelm, 90, 91, 92 Killebrew, 101 Spahn, 107 Aaron, 108, 109, 110, 119, 125, 126, 128, 132 Clemente, 136, 141, 142, 145 Mays, 146, 147, 148, 149, 152, 153, 156, 157, 158, 160 Drysdale, 161, 166, 167 Snider, 180, 185, 188, 190, 192 Ashburn, 193, 197, 198, and 200. Six cards (#10 Gil McDougald, 49 Vic Wertz, 58 Gary Bell, 65 Ken Aspromonte, 72 Ron Hansen, and 183 Roy McMillan) are signed on the fronts. Condition is 25% Ex-Mt to Nr/Mt, 57% Vg-Ex to Ex, and 18% Gd to Vg (including a few lesser). The preceding grades, as well as those in the composite below, are without respect to the neatness of the cut (all of the box cards are naturally hand cut and a few of the company cards have been trimmed through the perforations rather than detached by hand). Some of the box cards and a few of the company cards would qualify for only "Authentic" if submitted for professional grading. Six cards are graded and encapsulated by SGC (5, submitted by REA) and PSA (1). Keys: #1 Berra (Ex, box), 1 Berra (Vg-Ex, company), 4 Mantle (VG/EX 4, box), 4 Mantle (EX 5, company), 7 Maris (Vg-Ex, box), 7 Maris (Ex, company), 10 McDougald (signed, otherwise Ex-Mt, box), 23 Shaw (NM 7, box), 35 Kaline (Vg, box), 35 Kaline (Ex+, company), 73 Estrada (Ex, company), 75 B. Robinson (Ex-Mt, box), 75 B. Robinson (Vg-Ex, company), 92a Killebrew/Minneapolis (Vg+, box), 92b Killebrew/Minnesota Twins (Vg-Ex, company), 93b J. Lemon/Minnesota Twins (Nr/Mt, company), 94 Stobbs (Ex+, company), 106 Mathews (Ex, company), 107 Aaron (Ex, box), 107 Aaron (NM 7, company), 132 Clemente (Vg-Ex, box), 132 Clemente (NM 7, company), 135 Virdon (Vg+, box), 145 Mays (Vg, box), 145 Mays (PSA NM-MT 8, company), 163 Roach (Ex-Mt, box), 182 F. Robinson (Vg-Ex, box), 183 McMillan (signed, otherwise Ex, box), 191 Banks (Ex, company), and 193 Thomas (Vg, company). This is a very attractive near-complete set (minus one) of this scarce package-design issue, which is underrated. Compared to other sets of the era, it is extremely difficult to find as a set. Total: 269 cards (199 plus 68 variations and two duplicates).
