Presented is one of N172 Old Judge's greatest rarities: the 1890 Players League designation card featuring the legendary Dan Brouthers (#43-2 pose) with Boston of the short-lived Players' League. All 1890 Players' League cards are extremely rare and very highly prized by serious 19th century collectors. Dan Brouthers is one of several 1890 Old Judge "Players' League" Hall of Famers known. Graded GOOD 2 by PSA, this card has even wear on the corners and the image contrast is light, as is always the case with 1890 Old Judge Players' League cards. The blank reverse has minor soiling. Brouthers, along with fellow Hall of Famers "King" Kelly and "Old Hoss" Radbourn, helped lead the Boston Club to win the Players' League Championship in 1890. This is a very significant and extremely rare Old Judge of Dan Brouthers, issued during one of 19th century baseball's most turbulent periods, featuring him with Boston of the Players' League.
