Lot # 24: 1887 N284 Buchner Gold Coin Buck Ewing Hands at Neck PSA FAIR 1.5

Very presentable example of New York Giants Hall of Famer Buck Ewing (hands at neck pose) from the popular N284 Buchner Gold Coin set. Bright and crisp with bold colors, a strong image, and honest corner wear. Graded FAIR 1.5 by PSA largely due to a heavy horizontal crease, along with toning and pencil marks on the reverse. The advertising text on the reverse is boldly printed. Buchners are unusual in that they feature generic illustrations of the ballplayers rather than the actual likeness of the identified player. This is a visually appealing Hall of Famer example from the Buchner Gold Coin tobacco set, one of the few full-color baseball-card sets of the nineteenth century and one of the most artistically interesting, distinctive, and classic baseball-card sets of the 1880s.
