This vintage cardboard broadside advertises a game between the "Detroit Tigers vs. Peoria Central League" held at "Quiver Lake - Chautauqua Park - Havana, ILL." on "Wed. Sept. 5, 1917." The two team names are printed in black, and two players are listed along the bottom ("See Ty. Cobb with Detroit and Fred Beck in the Peoria Line Up"). The printer's credit is lettered "Brown Printing Co., Peoria" in black along the base. Although we found no record of this exhibition game taking place, the Tigers were on a road trip during this week which included a game in Chicago on September 3rd and then a game following in St. Louis on September 6th. Based on this game schedule, it is highly likely that the Tigers planned a stop in Peoria during their travels from Chicago to St. Louis. The broadside (22 x 14 inches) has a piece missing from the lower right corner, heavy staining, scattered paper loss on front, and a sizable tear on the bottom edge. In Poor condition overall. The size/weight of this item requires that there will be an additional shipping charge for this lot.
