Description

In 1956, Walter O'Malley, owner of the Brooklyn Dodgers, was invited by Matsutaro Shoriki, known as the “Father of Japanese Professional Baseball,” to bring his club to Japan for a series of exhibition games. In the spirit of goodwill, O'Malley accepted, and immediately following the World Series, the Dodgers embarked on their tour, which had them play 19 games in the span of little more than three weeks. Offered here is a very rare advertising poster from that celebrated tour, featuring images of Dodgers' stars Duke Snider, Roy Campanella, and Don Newcombe. The poster (21 x 33 inches), displays moderate creasing, light staining in the lower-left quadrant, and minor chipping along the bottom right. A few tape repairs are affixed to the reverse. Good condition overall. The size/weight of this item requires that there will be an additional shipping charge for this lot.
