In 1937 the Donut Corporation of America issued this striking and extraordinarily rare package-design set, with eighteen cards featured on each box of the company's donuts (six cards on three different panels). The official title of this 72-card multi-subject set is "Thrilling Moments in the Lives of Famous Americans." Each card features an actual-likeness black and white line drawing with a single background color of a legendary figure. It is rare to find even a single sample card from this issue, let alone the nineteen different cards featured here. Without reference to the neatness of the hand cuts (most are cut neatly), the condition is six Ex to Ex-Mt, Vg-Ex, and twelve Pr to Fr (mostly due to mild back damage, otherwise averaging Vg-Ex/Ex in appearance from the fronts). This collection consists of the following: Alexander Graham Bell, Black Hawk, Daniel Boone, Andrew Carnegie, Davy Crockett, Amelia Earhart (missing upper-right corner is natural to the issue), Thomas Edison, Ben Franklin, Patrick Henry, Stonewall Jackson, Thomas Jefferson, John Paul Jones (missing upper-right corner is natural to the issue), Francis Scott Key, Charles Lindbergh, Dolly Madison, Samuel Morse, Betsy Ross, Sitting Bull, and The Wright Brothers. This is a very attractive and substantial collection of "Thrilling Moments in the Lives of Famous Americans," among the most elusive of all 1930-era trade-card rarities. Total: 19 cards.
