Complete 80-card set from the 1961 Nu-Card Football series. This colorful football-card set features many of the most talented college football stars of the day from across the country. Legal issues resulted in Nu-Card producing some of the most unusual card sets of the early 1960s. It is likely that Nu-Card issued football cards of college stars because Topps had the rights to the professional football players, forcing Nu-Card to find imaginative ways to gain a foothold in the trading card market. Similar problems had to be dealt with in its efforts to issue baseball cards. Condition is 44% Nr/Mt to Nr/Mt-Mt, 50% Ex to Ex-Mt, and 6% slightly lesser. Keys: #117 Hadl (Ex), 143 E. Davis (Vg-Ex), and 166 Gabriel (Ex). This is a crisp and clean complete set of one of the most overlooked of all football issues. Total: 80 cards.
