Lot # 2824: 1961 Fleer Football Complete Set (220)

Presented is a complete set of 1961 Fleer football cards. Fleer issued four football sets during the early 1960s in an effort to compete with Topps' established efforts in the sport. The 1961 set consists of 220 cards highlighted by Hall of Famers Jim Brown, Johnny Unitas, Paul Hornung, Jim Otto (rookie card), Don Maynard (rookie card), and Bart Starr as well as non-Hall of Fame rookie cards of Don Meredith and John Brodie. The Fleer sets are far rarer than their Topps counterparts from the same era. The condition is 16% Nr/Mt to Nr/Mt-Mt (mostly Nr/Mt), 62% Ex to Ex-Mt, and 22% Vg to Vg-Ex (including six trimmed).
