Very attractive near-complete set of 1953 Bowman Color consisting of 156 different cards (out of 160 in the set). Missing the following four cards for completion: #32 Musial, 33 Reese, 44 Bauer/Berra/Mantle, and 59 Mantle. Eighty-four cards have been professionally graded and encapsulated by PSA (73), SGC (9), and BVG (2). PSA Grading Composite: NM-MT 8 (7 cards): #14, 15 (SGC 88), 16 (SGC 88), 41, 49, 63 (SGC 88), and 78. NM+ 7.5 (2 cards): #51 Irvin (SGC 86) and 58. NM 7 (13 cards): #4, 12, 23, 27 (SGC 84), 34, 40 Doby (BVG), 42, 46 Campanella, 52, 77, 80 Kiner, 81 Slaughter, and 153 Ford (OC). EX-MT+ 6.5 (3 cards): #50, 115, and 159. EX-MT 6 (31 cards): #3, 10 Ashburn, 13, 18 Fox, 25, 28, 30, 39, 54, 60, 62 Kluszewski (SGC 80), 67, 72, 79, 82, 83, 86, 87, 93 Rizzuto/Martin, 95, 97 Mathews, 99 Spahn, 105, 108, 111, 116, 117 Snider, 125, 141, 142, and 148. EX+ 5.5 (3 cards): #101 Schoendienst (SGC 70), 134 (SGC 70), and 139. EX 5 (14 cards): #5, 35, 88, 89, 90, 92 Hodges (SGC 60), 103 (BVG), 112, 121 Berra, 132, 135, 138, 146 Wynn, and 150. VG-EX+ 4.5 (1 card): #124. VG-EX 4 (8 cards): #1 Williams, 61, 100, 110, 130, 145, 154, and 155. VG 3 (1 card): #119 (MC). GOOD+ 2.5 (1 card): #137. The condition of the 72-card unencapsulated balance is 25% Ex to Ex-Mt (mostly Ex), 66% Vg to Vg-Ex, and 9% lesser. Unencapsulated Keys: #9 Rizzuto (Vg), 36 Minoso (Ex+), 55 Durocher (Vg-Ex+), 57 Boudreau (Vg-Ex, card resides in a GMA holder), 65 Roberts (Vg), 114 Feller (Vg-Ex), 118 Martin (Vg-Ex), and 160 Abrams (Gd+). This is a very impressive-looking and crisp, clean mid- to high-grade near-complete set of this classic 1950s gum-card issue. The equivalent SMR value for just 83 of the graded cards (not including the PSA-qualified card and factoring in the eight half grades below NM+ at the lower whole-grade level) is $3,907. Total: 156 cards. The size/weight of this item requires that there will be an additional shipping charge for this lot.
