Description

Real-photo postcard of Jimmie Foxx as a member of the Philadelphia Athletics, signed by him on the front. Foxx has written his name in blue ink. Foxx's inscription, which reads "Sincerely, Jimmie Foxx," appears vertically along the right border. PSA/DNA has encapsulated the card and certified the signature as "Authentic." Although no year or manufacturer is listed, the photo dates to the three-year period 1929-1931, because that was the only time the A’s wore the style of stirrup sock shown here. Those years also correspond to the club’s last great dynasty in which it won three pennants and two World Championships. Foxx was just 22 years old in 1929, a year that marked the start of his incredible streak of hitting thirty or more home runs and driving in 100 or more runs in twelve consecutive seasons. This is the ultimate Jimmie Foxx signed real-photo postcard and one that was specifically produced for Foxx as a souvenir for his fans. Years ago, a small number of these signed postcards were discovered, and this example, which has not been addressed or mailed, is most likely from that find. The card (3.5 x 5.5 inches) has an Excellent overall appearance. Full LOA from James Spence/JSA.
