The 1954 Topps set has always been one of the most popular sets of the 1950s. Issued in the heart of the decade, the set features the rookie cards of Hank Aaron, Ernie Banks, and Al Kaline, along with many other Hall of Famers and stars, including two examples of Ted Williams (first and last cards in the set), all in brilliant color. Includes a duplicate of #188. Condition is 14% Vg-Ex to Ex, 50% Gd to Vg, and 36% lesser (including a couple with a slight trim and a couple altered). Keys: #1 Williams (Pr), 3 Irvin (Fr-Gd), 10 Robinson (extensive color added and trimmed), 13 Martin (Vg-Ex), 17 Rizzuto (Vg), 20 Spahn (Vg+), 30 Mathews (Pr), 32 Snider (Pr), 36 Wilhelm (Fr), 37 Ford (Fr), 45 Ashburn (Gd), 50 Berra (erasure marks and color added, otherwise Vg), 70 Doby (Gd), 90 Mays (partially erased pencil mark on front, Pr), 94 Banks RC (Fr), 102 Hodges (Vg+), 128 Aaron RC (Fr), 132 Lasorda RC (Vg-Ex), 201 Kaline RC (Vg), 239 Skowron RC (Pr), and 250 Williams (partially erased pencil mark on front, Pr). Vintage sets such as this that are in medium to lower-grade condition are desirable, representing an exceptional collecting value. This is an attractive yet still relatively affordable set of this classic early Topps issue, loaded with Hall of Famers and stars from the 1950s. Total: 251 cards (set of 250 plus one duplicate).
