Rare example of key Hall of Famer Ty Cobb from the D303 General Baking issue. Issued in 1915 by the General Baking Company, this series shares designs with several closely related caramel issues (E90-1 American Caramel Company, E106 American Caramel, T216 Kotton, etc.) from the same era. All General Baking cards are extremely rare, but an example of Hall of Famer Ty Cobb is naturally even more noteworthy and desirable. The offered example has bold colors and outstanding registration. The reverse shows a boldly printed advertisement for General Baking and its products. Encapsulated as "Authentic" by SGC due to being trimmed (borders missing on three sides). A total of only ten (including the offered) D303 General Baking cards of Cobb (batting pose) have ever been graded according to the combined population reports of PSA and SGC. This very presentable example of Ty Cobb from this rare prewar food issue would be a welcome addition to any D303, type-card, or Hall of Fame collection.
