Lot # 1572: 1968 Topps "Action All-Star Stickers" Roberto Clemente/Willie Mays/Short PSA VG-EX 4

Graded VG-EX 4 by PSA. Beautiful mid-grade example of Roberto Clemente and Willie Mays (along with Chris Short) from the 1968 Topps "Action All-Stars Stickers" series. In 1968, Topps issued the "Action All-Star Stickers" test set on sixteen numbered vertical sticker panels, which were each composed of three 3.25 x 5.25-inch panels perforated at the joints for separation. Each three-panel strip features a large image of a star player in the center panel, with smaller pictures of three players on the top and bottom panels. The Clemente/Mays/Short offered here is the bottom section from the larger #9 panel. Bright and clean with bold colors, and free of any creases or wrinkles, which is rare for this issue. Four strong corners showing only light touches of wear and a clean, blank reverse. The 1968 Topps "Action All-Star Stickers" set is one of the scarcest, as well as most unusual, of all Topps test issues, and the offered card is an fantastic example of one of the premier Roberto Clemente and Willie Mays Topps test issues of the era.
