Graded FAIR 1.5 by SGC. The exceptionally rare 1915 E106 American Caramel issue shares designs with several other closely related candy issues (Croft's Candy, Nadja Caramels, Dockman & Sons, etc.) from the same era. Offered is an incredibly rare example of key Hall of Famer Honus Wagner (batting). These cards have glossy surfaces that are very susceptible to cracking and severe condition problems. The offered card is bright and crisp, with vibrant colors, rounded corners, and heavy creasing. The back is is lightly soiled, with bold text. Caramel cards in general are much rarer than tobacco cards of the era. Because they were issued with caramels one card per package and sold to children (as opposed to being sold with tobacco to adults), they also tend to survive in a much lower grade. In addition to being issued a few years later than most caramel cards and being particularly prone to condition issues due to their glossy surfaces, E106 American Caramel cards are also considerably rarer than most traditional "E" cards. This is an extremely scarce example of the legendary Honus Wagner.
