Lot # 620: 1921 W551 Babe Ruth PSA EX-MT 6

Graded EX-MT 6 by PSA. Mid-grade example of Babe Ruth from the W551 strip-card series. Originally issued in strips, these cards (and almost all strip-cards) are often found with irregularly cut borders as they were cut by hand from the strips, as intended. Only ideally cut examples (which are few and far between) are awarded numerical grades by PSA (and SGC). The offered example is neatly cut, with even wear at the corners (weaker left-side corners), and a crisp profile portrait image of Ruth set against a red background. The blank back is clean. This is a very desirable example of one of Babe Ruth's classic 1920s strip-cards.
