Lot # 649: 1926 M101-7 Sporting News Supplements Babe Ruth PSA POOR 1 (MK)

Extremely desirable example of Babe Ruth from the 1926 M101-7 Sporting News Supplements series. These large (7 x 10 inches) sepia-toned player photos were issued as a weekly supplement by The Sporting News. The premium is printed on thin stock and depicts Ruth standing outside the dugout with his bat in hand. The fragile paper stock of this issue makes high-grade examples extremely rare, and flaws such as light wrinkling, creasing, or tearing "come with the territory." There are few issues featuring Ruth dating from the 1920s. The offered example is bright and crisp with a flawless image and pencil writing in the upper-right corner. There is a small edge tear at the lower-left. Light creasing is present throughout. Rarely offered 1920s premium - the key to the set - featuring New York Yankees Hall of Famer Babe Ruth.
