Lot # 669: 1931 W517 #35 Lou Gehrig PSA NM-MT 8

Graded NM-MT 8 by PSA. One of only four examples graded at this level with just one higher. One of the key cards from the 1931 W517 series, this is one of Lou Gehrig's most striking cards and is appreciated by collectors for being so different in dimension and design from most other cards featuring his likeness. This high-grade example is bright and clean, both front and back, with four strong corners and centering slightly toward the right. Light toning is present on the front and back (noted for accuracy). W517 cards were sold in vertical strips of three cards. An outstanding example of this scarce and unusual Gehrig card dating from his playing days.
