Presented is a rarely offered near-complete set of R30-1 "Chicago World's Fair" issued by the Blatz Gum Co. in the 1930s, consisting of twenty-seven different cards (out of thirty-two in the set). Missing the following five cards for completion: #4 Dairy Building, 11 Sky Ride, 15 Aeroplan View of Fair Grounds, 29 Fort Dearborn, and 30 Electrical Group. Also included is an original souvenir box. This issue was distributed in both Blatz Gum packs and 16-card souvenir boxes. Each card features a magnificent full-color illustration. This collection consists of seventeen pack-issued examples (identifiable by card numbers and Blatz Gum Co. advertising on the reverses) and thirty box-issued examples (only titles and descriptions on the reverses). Both variations of the following ten cards are included: #2 Clarence Buckingham Fountain, 6 Oriental Village, 9 Electrical Group by Night, 10 Hall of Science, 13 Hall of States and Federal Buildings, 17 Administration Building, 20 Hall of Science, 22 Golden Temple of Jehol, 24 Three Fluted Towers, and 32 General Exhibits Group. Duplicates (10): #1 Hall of Science, 9 Electrical Group by Night, 10 Hall of Science, 13 Hall of States and Federal Buildings, 16 Court of States Building, 19 The Administration Building, 20 Hall of Science, 24 Three Fluted Towers, 26 Travel Building, and 32 General Exhibits Group. Condition is 38% Ex to Ex-Mt (including one Nr/Mt), 56% Vg to Vg-Ex, and 6% Gd. This is a rarely offered near-complete set of this extremely attractive and popular 1930s nonsport card issue.
