Description

Presented is a near-complete set of 1933 R135-1 "Beautiful Ships" consisting of twenty-three different cards, missing only #7 for completion. Cards from this set feature striking and very colorful illustrations of ships from all around the world. The set was produced by two Boston-based companies, Package Confectionary and United Candy. Only twenty-four cards were ever issued. The second group of twenty-four cards, which would have fulfilled the promise of forty-eight cards suggested by the "series of 48" claim which is advertised on the back of every card, was apparently planned but never issued. Condition ranges from Vg to Ex (averaging Vg-Ex), including one Ex-Mt and two Gd. Four cards have been professionally graded and encapsulated by PSA. Keys: #1 Egyptian Ship (Vg-Ex), 8 (VG-EX 4), 18 (VG 3), 22 (VG-EX 4), and 24 (EX 5). This is an awesome offering of this extremely attractive and scarce 1930s nonsport card issue. Total: 23 cards.
