Lot # 2524: Signed 1969 Topps Football #26 Brian Piccolo Rookie - PSA/DNA

Extremely rare signed rookie card of Brian Piccolo from the 1969 Topps football series. Signed by Piccolo in blue ballpoint pen on the front. PSA/DNA has encapsulated the card, certifying both the card and signature as "Authentic." This is one of just four signed examples certified by PSA/DNA and the first signed example of this card we have ever offered. As anyone who has ever attempted to put together an autographed set of 1969 Topps football cards knows, Piccolo is one of the key rarities to the assembly of a collection of all possible signed 1969 Topps football cards. The reason for that is timing. Piccolo tragically died on June 16, 1970 at the age of 26 after a battle with cancer, leaving autograph collectors with roughly a year to obtain his signature on the card. While the condition of the card is secondary to the signature in this instance, the offered example is additionally appealing for its overall Excellent appearance. The significance of this card cannot be overstated, and it is a great privilege for us to document its existence and offer it to the hobby.
