Description

Graded VG-EX 4 by PSA. This is the ONLY example graded at this level by PSA with none higher! Presented is a stunning T3 Turkey Red of Ty Cobb, one of the most beautiful and popular Cobb cards ever produced, with a rarely seen “no offer” checklist-back variation. The card exhibits bright colors, excellent registration, even wear at the corners, and no creases or wrinkles. The reverse of this card features a checklist of cards #1-76 but is missing the text below the checklist, which outlines the redemption offer in which coupons from Turkey Red, Old Mill, or Fez Cigarettes products could be exchanged by mail for one of the cards. (One of these Turkey Red coupons accompanies this card and is encapsulated as "Authentic" by SGC.) These checklist (no offer) cards are particularly scarce. T3s rarely survive without serious condition problems (ranging from major creases, stains, and rounded corners, to pinholes and glue stains relating to their former display). This is a superb example, one that epitomizes what collectors hope for in a Turkey Red example, let alone an example of the key card of Ty Cobb. It has survived remarkably well and does not display any of the flaws that so often plague these larger cards. This is an outstanding example in a very high grade for the issue and one that would be at home in any world-class collection of Turkey Reds, Ty Cobb, or important prewar baseball cards. Awarded an MBA Gold Diamond by Mike Baker Authenticated for high-end eye appeal. A corresponding MBA sticker is affixed to the front of the holder.
