Description

Substantial collection of eighty-two 1950 Topps "Freedom's War" trading cards, each graded and encapsulated by SGC. One of the most comprehensive sets of military cards ever produced, the "Freedom's War" set includes Korean War scenes, combat training, military insignia, weapons, medals, generals, airplanes, ships, and even a set of die-cut tanks (not included in this lot) that could be made into stand-up toys. Topps used multicolored artwork and photographs in the production of the set, which was distributed in three printings over a two-year period that began in Summer 1950. This collection includes three duplicates (#132, 142, and 152) and primarily consists of gray-back variations, but does include five tan-backs (#128, 129, 133, 144, and 149). Also included are both back variations for #137 and 168. SGC Grading Composite: NM/MT 88 (4 cards): #104, 111, 140, and 187. NM+ 86 (3 cards): #137 (gray), 153, and 159. NM 84 (18 cards): #5, 34, 43, 110, 118, 119, 134, 135, 136, 138, 139, 143, 145, 158, 163, 173, 181, and 184. EX/NM+ 82 (2 cards): #130 and 152. EX/NM 80 (8 cards): #9, 35, 39, 115, 132, 146, 154, and 197. EX+ 70 (12 cards): #30, 106, 107, 109, 112, 113, 114, 117, 123, 127, 142, and 202. EX 60 (15 cards): #14, 46, 128, 131, 133, 142, 144, 147, 148, 149, 160, 164, 170, 171, and 191. VG/EX+ 55 (5 cards): #129, 132, 151, 152, and 203. VG/EX 50 (6 cards): #95, 108, 137 (tan), 150, 166, and 168 (tan). VG+ 45 (4 cards): #44, 45, 105, and 168 (gray). VG 40 (2 cards): #40 and 42. GOOD+ 35 (3 cards): #47, 48, and 186. Very attractive collection of these popular military cards from the early 1950s, representing nearly 38% of a completely SGC-graded set. Total: 82 cards. The size/weight of this item requires that there will be an additional shipping charge for this lot.
