Graded FAIR 1.5 by PSA. Rare candy card of Babe Ruth from one of the few issues dating from the late 1920s, the E210 York Caramel set. Cards from this set are identical in design to several other issues of the era, such as Tharp's Ice Cream, Sweetman, and Harrington's Ice Cream, but with advertising for the "York Caramel Co." of York, Pennsylvania, on the reverse. Collectors have always appreciated the rarity and primitive charm of this distinctive candy issue. The offered example has superb image quality and even corner wear. Downgraded due to a diagonal crease running through Ruth's thighs and back damage. It is interesting to note that Ruth is actually pictured in a Boston Red Sox uniform on this card. York Caramels appear to have been regionally issued, as they are rarely found outside of the Pennsylvania area. This is a visually appealing example from this rare issue (which has all the more significance as it dates from the legendary year of 1927).
