Original black-and-white caricature artwork of Babe Ruth by noted sports artist Bruce Stark. Signed by the artist in the lower-left. This striking piece captures Ruth in a swing-through pose. Bruce Stark is best remembered today for his work in the New York Daily News, where for over 20 years (1960-1982) he served as the paper's sports cartoonist and celebrity caricaturist. During that same span, his work also graced the covers of many well-read publications, including Time, Fortune, TV Guide, and Forbes. His interior illustration credits include The Saturday Evening Post, Mad, Reader's Digest, and Golf Digest. Today, his works can be found in the permanent collections of both the Baseball Hall of Fame and the Basketball Hall of Fame. His pedigree made him a natural choice for the partnership, and the offered drawing is the original used to create the team's shirt for the company. It is signed by Stark to the left of the image. Measuring 14.5 x 19 inches, the artwork is in Excellent to Near Mint condition overall. The size/weight of this item requires that there will be an additional shipping charge for this lot.
