Collection of 31 different cards (out of 64 in the set) from the classic 1928 Exhibits series, highlighted by Hall of Famers Max Carey, Mickey Cochrane, Frankie Frisch, Dazzy Vance, and Paul Waner. The 1928 set was the last Exhibit card set of the 1920s to feature one player per card. In 1929, the Exhibit Supply Co. of Chicago changed the design of its cards to feature four different players per card, all from the same team. (They returned to an individual-player format in 1939.) The 1928 Exhibits (3-3/8 x 5-3/8 inches) are easily identified by their blue tint, and are blank-backed or seen with a printed or stamped corner coupon on the reverse. This collection consists entirely of blank backs. Condition is Pr to Fr overall, with all cards displaying a pencil notation on the reverse and 11 showing pinholes. Despite the technically very modest condition, the grouping still offers a very presentable appearance from the fronts. This collection consists of the following: Blades, Blue, Brown, Carey (pencil on reverse, otherwise Vg), Cissell, Cochrane (Pr), Collins, Ehmke, English, Frisch (Pr), Hargrave, Hargraves, Harriss, Hoffman, Jamieson, Kremer, Leach, Luque, Myatt, Ogden, Ruel, Sand, Shang, Shocker, R. Smith, Taylor, Vance (Pr), Waner (pencil on reverse, otherwise Vg), Williams, J. Wilson, and Woodall. Exhibits are extremely substantial, far rarer than many other cards from the era, and represent an extraordinary collecting value for quality cards from the 1920s. Total: 31 cards.
