Description

Modestly graded example of this rare New York Yankees Hall of Famer Lou Gehrig card. While little is known about the W502 set with respect to its precise method of distribution, the cards can clearly be used to play a baseball card game (various game "plays" are listed on the reverse of each) and were very likely produced as a promotional vehicle for merchants. This set very closely resembles several other issues from the same time period, including the Yuengling's, Tharp's, and Harrington's ice-cream sets. This example features a strong image of Gehrig. Please note the following: SGC declined to render an opinion on this item due to the additional paper on the reverse. The card is trimmed (probably trimmed slightly while trying to trim excess paper off the back) and missing paper on the lower right corner.
