Graded FAIR 1.5 by SGC. Rarely offered example of New York Yankees Hall of Famer Lou Gehrig from the 1926-1929 postcard-back Exhibit-style set. Gehrig is depicted in an ideal batting pose (identical to the image used on the 1933 Goudey set). A small competitor of the Exhibit Supply Company actually issued this classic Exhibit-style card. The cards were issued two ways: with or without normal postcard indicia on the reverse. The offered example is the "postcard-format" variety. The postcard-format reverse includes the warning: “Not To be Used In Exhibit Machines.” The card has light creasing with moderate wear on the corners and edges. The postcard back displays ink and pencil writing, which contributes to the modest assigned grade. This a very attractive example, offering an outstanding value compared to many other cards from Gehrig's playing days.
