Presented is a near-complete set of 1949 Bowman consisting of 235 different cards (out of 240 in the set). Missing the following five cards for completion: #50 Robinson, 84 Campanella, 224 Paige, 226 Snider, and 233 Doby. This is a very attractive and consistent medium-grade near set highlighted by rookie cards of Richie Ashburn, Robin Roberts, Early Wynn, Gil Hodges, and Bob Lemon. Of the cards that can be found with white- and gray-back variations (#1-3 and 5-73), this near set includes 42 gray backs. Condition is 10% Ex or slightly better, 72% Vg to Vg-Ex, and 18% lesser (including some due to tape). Eight cards have been professionally graded and encapsulated by SGC. Keys: #1 Bickford (Vg), 11 Boudreau (Gd), 23 Doerr (Vg), 24 Musial (VG 40), 26 Kell (Ex), 27 Feller (EX 60), 29 Kiner (Vg+), 33 Spahn (Vg), 36 Reese (Gd+), 46 Roberts RC (VG 40), 47 Sain (VG 40), 60 Berra (VG/EX 50), 65 Slaughter (Vg), 70 Furillo RC (Vg), 85 Mize/Name on Front (Vg), 98 Rizzuto/Name on Front (FAIR 20), 100 Hodges RC (Pr), 110 Wynn RC (VG 40), 111 Schoendienst (Vg-Ex), 162 Roe RC (Vg+), 175 Appling (Vg), 194 Branca RC (Vg-Ex), 209 Keller (Vg+), 210 Gordon (Vg-Ex), 214 Ashburn RC (VG/EX 50), 219 Trucks (Vg), 225 Coleman RC (Vg-Ex+), 229 Lopat RC (Vg-Ex), and 238 Lemon RC (Gd). 1949 Bowman is the most underrated set in terms of rarity among Topps and Bowman sets issued between 1948 and 1955. This collection represents the foundation for an attractive medium-grade complete set of this classic postwar gum card issue. Total: 235 cards.
