Miniature baseball insribed in black ink on the sweet spot by Hall of Fame second baseman Joe Gordon. His inscription reads “Best Wishes/Joe Gordon.” Joe Gordon single-signed balls are rare. He passed away in 1978 at the age of 63, and he wasn’t elected to the Hall of Fame until 2009. As is the case whenever a player is elected to the Hall posthumously, especially decades after his death, the supply of available signature examples (especially on single-signed balls, a very popular area of collecting) can never meet the overwhelming demand. Gordon’s election by the Veterans Committee in 2009 took most fans by surprise, and it is unlikely that many collectors had the foresight decades ago to obtain Gordon's signature alone on a baseball. Full LOA from PSA/DNA, which has graded the signature "4" and the baseball "5" for an overall grade of "4.5."
