Lot # 1113: 1950 All-Star Baseball "Pin-Up" Unpunched Complete Set (10) Including Jackie Robinson, Ted Williams, and Joe DiMaggio

Complete set of 10 players from the 1950 All-Star Baseball "Pin-Up" series, separated from the original book in which they were issued, but still mostly attached at the perforations. These seven-inch diameter black-and-white player photos were issued in a booklet and designed with perforations around the edges to be punched out of the page and displayed. The reverse of each player picture has playing tips (hitting, base stealing, etc.). The front and back cover pictures Ted Williams in his familiar swing-thru pose with a list of the 10 players featured on the inside pages of the book and the slogan "Punch 'Em Out - - - Pin Em' Up!" printed along the bottom. The cardboard booklet cover is included (damage to the lower part of the spine and missing the metal binders, otherwise Vg-Ex in appearance). All pin-ups except DiMaggio are partially detached at the perforations (approximately 20-25% detached in most cases). The set consists of the following (grades refer only to the key circular portion of the page, with mostly minor wear visible around the perimeter of each page): Joe DiMaggio (light color toning on reverse, otherwise Nr/Mt), Jim Hegan (Ex), Gil Hodges (Ex), George Kell (Nr/Mt), Ralph Kiner (left edge trimmed, otherwise Vg due to small tear), Stan Musial (small circle piece at top punched out, otherwise Ex-Mt), Mel Parnell (Nr/Mt), Phil Rizzuto (Nr/Mt), Jackie Robinson (Ex+), and Ted Williams (Vg). A strong example of this unusual early 1950s issue! Total: 11 items (ten pin-ups and booklet cover).
