Graded GOOD 30 by SGC. Presented is the ONLY example of Chicago Cubs Hall of Famer Joe Tinker ever graded from the extremely rare 1912 J=K Candy issue. This is a Type I card with a sepia-toned photo of Tinker in a fielding action pose. Issued in 1912 by the J. Koenigsberg company of New York, each card was designed to be hand-cut from the side of a candy box containing one of the company's products. J=K Candy cards can be found in two distinct versions: the sepia Type I offered here and a colorized die-cut Type II variety. This card presents very well, far better than suggested by its technically accurate assigned grade (as can easily be seen). Crisp image with moderate edge and corner wear, light creasing, and minor toning. These cards naturally tend to grade very modestly due to their method of issue and hand-cut nature. Examples from this unusual 1910-era candy issue are extremely rare. This is an elusive rarity that would be an outstanding addition to any Joe Tinker, Chicago Cubs, or type-card collection.
