Presented is an extremely rare near-complete set of 1947 Coca-Cola advertising displays consisting of nine different signs (out of 10 in the set), missing only Ned Day (bowling) for completion. This set is highlighted by the fabled "Georgia Peach," Ty Cobb (technically Vg-Ex condition with a much stronger appearance). Extremely substantial and ideal for display as intended. This series of promotional advertising displays titled "All-Time Winners" was issued by Coca-Cola in 1947. In addition to Cobb, store displays from the series feature a number of other famous American sports legends, including Gene Tunney, Bobby Jones, and Red Grange. Cobb is without question the prize of the Coca-Cola advertising store displays issued in this series. Its stunning graphics and exceptional visual appeal notwithstanding, the offered set is also highly prized by collectors due to Cobb's long association with the company. Cobb was an early investor in Coca-Cola (its headquarters was located in Cobb's home state of Georgia) and later became one of the company's largest shareholders, earning him a seat on the board of directors. At the time of Cobb's death in 1961, his net worth was estimated at over $10 million, with much of that money having accrued from his Coca-Cola investments. Cobb first appeared in a Coca-Cola advertisement in 1907 and he continued as an active spokesperson for the remainder of his life. This is one of the few high-quality baseball Coca-Cola advertising displays ever produced. It is also one of the most striking Ty Cobb advertising displays produced by any company from any era. Each cardboard display (13 x 15 inches), which is complete with its original attached string on the reverse for hanging, has some minor corner and edge wear but is otherwise in Excellent condition overall, looking much as they did when first issued. This is an outstanding near-complete set (minus one) of these rare Coca-Cola displays, the first we have offered in the past 21 years! Total: 9 displays. The size/weight of this item requires that there will be an additional shipping charge for this lot.
