Presented are complete sets of 1948 Post "Raisin Bran" (12) and 1949 Post "Toasties" (24) Rings which feature popular comic strip characters of the day, issued during an era in which comic characters had an even higher profile in popular culture than today. These colorful metal tabs were issued as premiums in boxes of Post "Raisin Bran" and "Toasties" Cereal. Each tab measures approximately 2-1/2 inches in length and features a portrait image of a comic character, with an advertisement for Post's "Raisin Bran" or "Toasties" cereal on the reverse (this collection includes four blank backs). These tabs are designed as rings that attach to one's finger by folding back the metal tabs. This collection consists of the following: 1) 1948 Post "Raisin Bran" complete set (12) plus one duplicate (Herby). Two rings (Dick Tracy and Skeezix) remain in their original wrappers. 2) 1949 Post "Toasties" complete set (24) plus one duplicate (Popeye, with severely miscut centering). Two rings (Fritz and Hans) remain in their original wrappers. The examples of Casper, Inspector, and Snuffy are the red-bordered variations. Many of the tabs display minor scratches, surface chips, bends, and/or a bit of rusting on the backs. The condition of the rings ranges from Vg to Ex-Mt, with a few higher and lower. Three of the four wrappers are in very modest condition. This grouping would be a superb addition to even the most advanced nonsport collection. Total: 38 tabs.
