Description

Presented is a rarely offered near-complete set (numbered 1-48) of R128-1 "Series of 48 - Western" issued in 1933, consisting of 39 different cards (out of 48 in the set). Missing the following nine cards for completion: #1, 41, 42, 43, 44, 45, 46, 47, and 48. This anonymous strip-card series illustrates western-themed scenes. The front of the cards have color artwork sketches and a caption below the image. A brief description of the subject or event is printed on the back of the card. The condition of the near set ranges from Vg-Ex to Ex-Mt (averaging Ex), with two lesser. All of the cards have been detached cleanly at the perforations. This collection includes ten different R128-2 "Series of 48 - Western" cards (#201, 233, 241, 242, 243, 244, 245, 246, 247, and 248 Sitting Bull [PSA VG-EX 4]) grading as follows: two Nr/Mt, four Ex, Vg-Ex, one Vg-Ex, Vg, one Fr due mostly to pencil on the reverse, and one trimmed inside the perforations, otherwise Vg-Ex. A very attractive collection of this classic 1930s nonsport issue. Total: 49 cards.
