Graded FAIR 1.5 by PSA. Only one example graded higher. Presented is a very scarce example of Hall of Famer Ty Cobb, one of the key cards from the extremely unusual 1910 W-UNC Strip-Card set. This rare set has mystified and captured the attention of advanced collectors for decades. These colorful "cards," most of which depict the players in portrait form and are so reminiscent of both 1910-era candy cards and "strip cards," actually originate from a series of children's notebook covers featuring these baseball-card images, and have been neatly cut from the covers (very likely as intended, as they certainly are designed with the appearance of a card set). Each player is identified by last name and team on the front. Because these cards were hand-cut, they are rarely deemed worthy of numerical grading; due to its ideal cut, this is one of the few exceptions! The card displays heavy creasing on the front and appears to be very neatly reinforced by an extremely thin backing. This is a very scarce example of Ty Cobb from one of the most unusual vintage card issues.
