Description

Presented is a near-complete set of 1952 Berk Ross consisting of fifty-six different cards (out of seventy-two in the set). Missing the following sixteen cards for completion: Ashburn, Berra, Campanella, Joe DiMaggio, Doby, Feller, Kell, Mantle, Mays, Minoso, Musial, Reese, Rizzuto/swinging, Jackie Robinson, Snider, and Ted Williams. 1952 Berk Ross is a fascinating set. The 1952 Berk Ross cards are similar in design to the 1951 Berk Ross card set, though slightly different in dimensions (they are larger and vertical in format) and the set was issued as individual cards instead of the perforated two-card panel design from the previous year. Condition is 9% Vg-Ex to Ex, 46% Gd to Vg, and 45% lesser. Keys: Blackwell (Gd, Fox pictured),Fox (0/100 T/B, otherwise Fr, Blackwell pictured), Irvin (100/0 T/B, otherwise Vg-Ex+), Kiner (Vg+), Martin (Pr), Mize (Pr), and Rizzuto/bunting (Pr-Fr). Included is a low-grade original wrapper which is not complete and shows tape repairs on the reverse. This is an attractive medium- to lower-grade near-complete set of this substantial early 1950s issue. The 1952 Berk Ross set is among the most interesting and overlooked sets of the era. It is also far rarer than collectors realize. (Unlike the 1951 set, there were never any 1952 sets available from Bruce Yeko's Wholesale Cards.) Total: 56 cards.
