Description

Original photo of Hall of Fame shortstop Pee Wee Reese, taken by noted photographer Barney Stein, with the image attributed to the artwork used on Reese's 1953 Topps card #76. Encapsulated and certified as an original Type I photograph by PSA/DNA. A "Barney Stein" credit stamp appears on the reverse, along with Reese's name typed above. Barney Stein, who worked for the New York Post from 1939 to 1970, was also the official photographer of the Brooklyn Dodgers for over 20 years and one of the most prominent sports photographers of his era. Photos used in the production of trading cards, especially those featuring prominent Hall of Famers such as Reese, have become increasingly popular in recent years. This is one of only a small number of vintage photos we have seen featuring a player image attributed to the 1953 set. The photo (8 x 10 inches) displays an uneven cut along the right edge and a small spot of paper loss along the bottom border. Please note that the names of Pee Wee Reese and Duke Snider are written very faintly along Reese's image. Very Good condition overall.
