Lot # 416: 1911 T3 Turkey Red #9 Ty Cobb

Presented is one of vintage-card collecting's most recognizable icons and the key card of the 1911 Turkey Red Tobacco cabinet-card series: #9 Ty Cobb. Besides being the most valuable card in the set, it is also one of the most desirable and striking of all Cobb cards. This example has vibrant colors, outstanding registration, and moderate corner wear. The checklist back (with offer) is boldly printed. Encapsulated as "Authentic" by GAI due to an irregular hand cut along the right edge. The card also displays heavy creasing and a "Culver Service" ink stamp on the reverse, as well as a few spots of paper loss. Despite these flaws, this is a presentable example of this classic card. The classic Turkey Red set is considered by many to be the most beautiful and well-made tobacco set ever issued. The T3 Ty Cobb has always been and will always be in high demand, especially a relatively affordable example such as this.
