Graded GOOD 2 by SGC. Very attractive example of Detroit Tigers Hall of Famer Ty Cobb from the prized "Blue Background" series in a classic portrait image. The "Blue Background" series is by far the most desirable series of the 1911 M116 Sporting Life set. These cards are appreciated by collectors for their scarcity and distinctive style as well as for the unparalleled concentration of quality players in the series. Cobb is one of the key cards of the series. The offered card has brilliant colors, outstanding registration, strong corners with light touches of wear, and centering towards the top right. The reverse features advertising for Sporting Life in crisp, bold blue print. A light moisture stain above Cobb's head and a small edge chip on the left border are largely responsible for the assigned grade. Despite the modest technical grade, this remains an extremely appealing example of one of the most distinctive and classic of all 1910-era Ty Cobb cards.
