Lot # 81: 1896-1897 Cameo Pepsin Gum Cy Young Pin PSA Authentic - One of Only Two Graded Examples!

Extremely rare Cameo Pepsin Gum pin featuring Cleveland Hall of Famer Cy Young. An extraordinarily significant rarity, this is only the fourth Young pin we have handled in the past 22 years. This is one of the few issues to depict Young prior to 1900, and he is pictured in portrait wearing a suit and tie. Cameo Pepsin pins, which are manufactured by Whitehead & Hoag, typically feature a wide range of variation in image quality, and the offered example (1.25-inch diameter) displays superb contrast that is significantly better than many other pins (of any player) we've encountered. The original back paper advertising for Cameo Pepsin Gum is missing. Encapsulated as "Authentic" by PSA, this is one of only two examples graded by PSA to date. This is a superb example of this rare pin worthy of even the most advanced collection!
