Graded GOOD 2 by SGC. Presented is a 1953 Stahl-Meyer Mickey Mantle, one of the rarest and most attractive of all Mantle cards. Stahl-Meyers were regionally issued in the New York area, one card per package with Stahl-Meyer Franks. The set features a selection of stars from all three New York teams. They are usually found with serious condition problems relating to their method of issue, including creases and hot-dog stains. The card displays vibrant colors and a crisp image of Mantle. Traces of a faint purple ink stamp related to packaging (remember, these were actually packed with hot dogs) is present in the lower right corner of Mantle's image. Unobtrusive light creasing and light hot-dog staining on the reverse also factor into the assigned grade. This is a very attractive example, which, despite the modest technical grade, is far nicer than usually seen. This is a key card of all 1950s regional issues and one of the most highly prized of all Mantle cards.
