Lot # 2413: 1985 to 1997 Perez-Steele Great Moments Complete Set (108) with 27 Signed Cards Including Mays, Musial, and Berra

One of the most beautiful sets ever issued, the publication of Perez-Steele's "Great Moments" set began in 1985. The offering was limited to 5,000 numbered sets with periodical updates. The set is fashioned after the colorful T-3 Turkey Red cabinet cards of 1911 and salutes the defining moments in the careers of Baseball Hall of Famers. There are 108 cards in the complete set, issued as nine 12-card series. The offered collection is complete with all 108 issued cards; all serial-numbered #3680. Of the 108 cards, only 70 could have possibly been signed (the other 38 cards depict players who died prior to the set's issue). This offering includes twenty-seven of those possible seventy signed cards. The twenty-seven signed cards are as follows: Kaline, Ford, Musial, Spahn, Roberts, Mize, Irvin, Mathews, Slaughter, Snider, Doerr, Stargell, B. Robinson, Herman, Aparicio, Bench, Berra, Schoendienst, Marichal, Kell, Hunter, Mays, Brock, Lemon, B. Williams, Ferrell, and Yastrzemski. All of the signatures have been boldly scripted in blue Sharpie on the front. The cards are presented in their original boxes and range in condition from Ex to Nr/Mt-Mt (averaging Ex/Mt).
