Description

Personal check dated June 1, 1938 and signed by Babe Ruth. The check, drawn on the Chemical Bank & Trust Company of New York, is made out to Ruth's longtime friend "James Donohue" for $93.70. Signed "G. H. Ruth" in black fountain pen along the base. PSA/DNA has encapsulated the check and graded the signature NM-MT 8. Ruth's preprinted name appears along the left border. A handwritten endorsement from Donohue appears on the reverse. Babe Ruth personal checks have long been a favorite of autograph collectors due to their inherent authenticity and the fact that Ruth’s signature is almost always well executed. The check (8.5 x 3.25 inches) has two vertical folds along with normal bank cancellation stamps and holes. A few small creases are visible as well. Full LOA from James Spence/JSA.
