Description

Offered is a near-complete set of forty-five cards (of the forty-eight) from the 1948 Bowman series, the first baseball-card set issued by Bowman Gum, highlighted by key rookie cards of many stars and Hall of Famers. Missing just #6 Berra, 18 Spahn, and 36 Musial for completion. Condition is 13% Vg-Ex to Ex, 17% Gd to Vg, and 70% Pr to Fr (including a couple trimmed). Keys: #1 Elliott RC (Pr), 2 Blackwell (slight trim, otherwise Gd), 3 Kiner RC (Pr), 4 Mize (Pr, with partially erased pencil on front), 5 Feller (Pr), 7 Reiser SP (Pr), 8 Rizzuto RC (Pr), 12 Sain RC (upper-left corner missing, Pr), 14 Reynolds RC (Pr-Fr), 17 Slaughter RC (Fr), 19 Henrich (Pr), 29 Page RC (Pr-Fr), 30 Lockman SP (Pr), 38 Schoendienst (Pr), 40 Marion RC (Ex), 45 Sauer RC (Pr), and 47 Thomson RC (Gd).
