Description

Graded GOOD 2 by PSA. Rarely offered W600 Sporting Life series cabinet card featuring Hall of Fame manager John McGraw as a member of the New York Giants. Two variations of McGraw (both dressed in a suit) were issued in W600: one with an "Infielder" designation (1902) and one with a "Manager" designation (1903). The offered example is the latter "Manager" variation. Extremely bright and crisp, with moderate corner wear and exceptional image quality. The blank reverse is clean. Downgraded largely due to a moisture stain in the upper-left quadrant and a surface scratch below McGraw's image. W600 Sporting Life cabinet cards were available only by mail, and they are universally recognized as among the most substantial and highest-quality baseball-card sets ever issued. This is an attractive example of one of the most desirable of all W600 Hall of Famers, and one of John McGraw's rarest and most impressive cards.
