Description

Rarely offered W600 Sporting Life series cabinet-card featuring legendary Hall of Famer Cy Young as a member of the Cleveland Naps. Three variations of Young (all in uniform) were issued in W600: one bearing a specific 1902 date on the front and Young shown with a mustache, one with a "Boston" team designation (1904), and one with a "Cleveland" team designation (1909). The offered example is the final issued "Cleveland" team variation from 1909. Featuring a dark pink tint, the card has exceptional image quality and moderate corner wear. Encapsulated as "Authentic Altered" due to being trimmed along the left edge. W600 Sporting Life cabinet cards were available only by mail, and they are universally recognized as among the most substantial and highest-quality baseball-card sets ever issued. Despite its imperfections, this remains a very presentable example of one of the most desirable of all W600 Hall of Famers, and one of Cy Young's rarest and most impressive cards.
